Toes going numb and tingly in bed, is that a foot thing?

Slightly different question from the usual ones here, and I hope it is okay to ask.

For the last couple of months, most nights when I get into bed, the toes on both feet go numb and then tingly, like they have gone to sleep. It lasts maybe fifteen or twenty minutes and then settles. During the day I do not notice anything at all.

I have been assuming it was something to do with circulation and cold, or possibly the way I sit in the evenings. Is there anything foot care related that helps with this, or am I asking in completely the wrong place?

This is one for a GP rather than for us, genuinely. Numbness and tingling that turns up regularly at night is a nerve or circulation question, and there is a fairly long list of causes, most of which are manageable and some of which want catching early. Nothing you put on the skin will touch it. Please do go, and go sooner if it is getting more frequent, if it affects one foot more than the other, or if there is any weakness or change in how the foot feels to walk on.

Seconding all of that and adding one thing to mention at the appointment. Tell them about your work shoes and how many hours you are in them, because tight footwear across the front of the foot does cause exactly this in some people and it is the easiest thing on the list to fix. Take the shoes with you if you can. It is not a daft thing to do, they will find it useful.

Booked for next week. I had genuinely convinced myself this was a dry skin or a circulation-in-a-cold-house thing and that I would be wasting their time. Thank you for being straight about it.

You will not be wasting anyone's time. I sat on almost exactly this for a year and a half because it only happened in bed and felt too small to bother anyone with. It was worth sorting and I wish I had gone the first month.
